4. GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE              

       
   At stated above, the Tempter kept making attempts to lead Jesus into temptation. Why he was so firmly convinced that such a moment would have occurred without fail? Because he saw in the human nature of that Age something related with himself. There remained one thing to do - to wait, when that something, deeply hidden and repressed, would be manifested and response to the appeal of the Tempter. Whatever that was?
   It was also mentioned above that Moses had used the power of the Holy Spirit. This was an accent, or preference, reflecting a degree of separation within the United. Jesus Christ had uses two aspects, or a double aspect: of the Holy Spirit and the Son. However it was also an accent, or preference, reflecting a degree of separation within the United, though much more fine1. Moreover, the second approach to realization of the God's purpose, consisting in creation of Kingdom of God on the Earth, should be ended by denial of formal aspect of teaching that formally appears as a denial of disciples. Jesus must leave his disciples one on one with the Tempter, for those through their terrible experience had been purified and unified with him in spirit2.
   For the final realization of the God's purpose the involvement of Spirit/Father is needed. Jesus Christ knew the Project of the Father, and a question arose: whether the Father would change this Project in such a situation? If that is possible, then, unifying powers of three aspects of the divine manifestation - Holy Spirit, Son and Spirit-Father - within coming 33 years (the third cycle from beginning of Age of Pisces) it were possible to complete the mission and, at long last, to "hold a fete for the God". Then there were no need for denial of disciples. But all this is in the Father power. That is why the experience of Christ includes, besides the three well-known temptations, also the temptation in the garden of Gethsemane.
   Many researchers3 had commented the words of Jesus, "my Soul is mourning to death"4. in efforts to find the meaning that could explain the whole thing. As it may be noted, here is presented a different understanding of the situation. Meanwhile the author proceeds from the belief that the events in the garden of Gethsemane were not spontaneous, but resulted from many processes that had taken place before. Let's remember them.
   After it had been discovered to disciples that Jesus is the Christ, He "began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised (Matthew 16:21). Peter began to rebuke and persuade him not to do this. And here are words and testimony of Jesus that the Satan had found a clue and stated to "sting" him through his disciples: "But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man." (Matthew 16:23). Why Jesus responded so keenly? Why he had interpreted that as a temptation ("hidrance")? Because the idea came home to him. So, what clue could find the Tempter to grab Jesus with? This clue was the human within him, his formal nature. His formal or physical nature was at the moment purified and refined to a level corresponding to the "ascent of a mountain", the first "step" of the forth initiation. Though, these processes should run already in Age of Pisces, that is why this achievement became but one of many steps on the way to the forth initiation of the Age of Pisces, that reveals a different aspect of itself. Whereas Peter had appealed, actually, to rest on their laurels and that was a temptation.
   Confirmation of the said comes from the next chapter, where Jesus with his three disciples "ascends the mountain" again, and his disciples see5 him with Moses and Elijah. Why the meeting took place therein, "on the mountain?" Both Moses and Elijah did express that achievement of the Age of Aries though in different ways. Let me remember you their symbols: figure 4.1 shows symbol of Moses (a), Aaron (b), of their junction (c) and symbol of Elijah (d). The conjoint symbol of Moses and Aaron contains both Star of Christ and Elijah's symbol. Symbols "a" and "d" describe the "ascent of the mountain", so, having made this ascent, Jesus, Peter, Jacob and John meet Moses and Elijah. And that is where a new "thorn in their flesh" appears6: Peter proposes again to rest on their laurels, namely: "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." (Matthew, 17:4). The disciples did not see Aaron "on the mount", although he played a very important role in the Moses's mission. During the Exodus of Israel from Egypt and the forty-year wandering in desert Aaron and Moses formed the "technical occult antahkarana." What it means, will be explained below. Now let's underscore that Aaron does not present in the mountain. He does not present there both in Aries and in Pisces. In Aries, Aaron dies, and Moses "leaves" within the cloud, that is q "cloud of the cognizable"7 . Here, within the cloud of cognizable, but already in the Age of Pisces, under influences of energies of Christ, Moses meets Elijah and conjoins with him. That process shoes figure 4.2.

   The "technical occult antahkarana" (fig. 4-1c) is the conjunction of Forces and Energies on a formal basis. That is, the Forces are conjoined and the Energies "attracted". Such junction is a subjective or causal aspect of specialty of the Age of Aries, given in detail in the book "Principle of Christ". Let me remind that it was the Age of Power of Personality, or the Force, realizing its Will through narrowing circumstances of lives of its dependent people. Forces (triangles) on the figure 4.1 "narrow", or restrict Energies. Forces enter into conjunction having the formal nature, and Energies, not entering into conjunction, turn out into the immediate and direct interplay. Such situation is very instable: Moses (as a higher abstract mind) only has to "linger on the mountain", for Aaron (lower specific mind) lapses into heresy of "separation" and returns to idols. And vice versa, "falling away" or "occult circumcision" of Aaron (through his physical death) leads Moses to the loss of contact with people, to his increasing isolation and prompt subsequent "moving away" into a "cloud".
   The "technical occult antahkarana" is the achievement or result of the forth initiation in the Age of Aries. An aspect that had been uncovered by this achievement represents formally the aspect of Forces and subjectively the aspect of Law. That is why Moses had given the Law but had not given the Ideal. All this became a start point which allows preparing in the Age of Aries through the Law and ritual the alignment of true occult antahkarana. This had been achieved through shifting accent from the formal aspect to the subjective one. At that the same formal approach had been applied, using personality will, that manifests itself by volitional humiliation and reducing of physical and emotional life. These are ways of austerities, self-torture and physical exhaustion. Many schools of yoga and other spiritual practices of that Age work through the Law, rules, orders, but not yet work with Ideal8 . Meanwhile the "Aaronian" nature is rejected in an occult way and the "Mosesian" is accentuated. Because formal nature gets weakening of formal nature the Energies come to the front, which due to their "conjoined position", generate powerful crises, the first prerequisites for formation of the true occult antahkarana9 . Such processes are the feature of Age of Aries, where they reflected right, or spiritual, relationship in the past.

   The same processes could be initiated in the Age of Pisces, too. There was rather worked-out and well developed technique that made possible to align the "technical occult antahkarana" more rapidly, to get some spiritual experience, though episodic but important. But at present, in the Age of Pisces, is not necessary to attract the formal aspect in order to meet the call of the times, i.e. it is not the right, i.e. spiritual way. That is the way of Aries, but in the Age of Pisces it is an attachment to the past, i .e. non right way for the Age of Aquarius. Does it work? Yes. But it gives a result, leading back to goals of the Age of Aries, while the goals of Pisces and Aquarius remain not accomplished. This is return into the "Wheel of Samsara", in terms of eastern philosophy.
   For Pisces the situation of "repentance and renunciation" is a correct one, therefore, the use of techniques of Aries is a component of right (spiritual) way. What does it consist in? It consists in transfer of accent from formal nature to subjective one, or from Forces to Energies, or from idols10 to ideas. Union, i.e. a harmonic junction of Forces and Energies, where the last express the Ideal, serves as a mediator here. That is to say, the Pisces allow a temporary accentuation on Forces, provided for following return to the accent on Energies. This is the underlying subjective, or causal, aspect of "renunciation and repentance", of "sin and confession". However, equally possible, resulting from the yet rough nature of human physic, are processes, when the accent on the formal aspect, or Forces, gets prevail. Then, temporary and periodical accent on Energies becomes a way to energize the formal manifestation; energies become object of profiteering and exploitation. And this way is not a spiritual one, not the right11 way.
   So, in the garden of Gethsemane12 Jesus faced to a temptation of an unprecedented insidiousness: if he contents himself with the things already achieved, he will succumb to temptation; if he goes on his "ascending" and extends his mission for another 33 years, he still will succumb to a different kind of temptation. He should not stop, not turn round, but he should not go on, should not separate himself from the mankind, as well.
   Such were objective and subjective circumstances, Jesus dealt with approaching the completion of his mission. Matter was still not ready to reach the kingdom of God, but it, formal nature, was not ready as well to its rejection, quite temporary, by God. However that was just what Jesus Christ should do. Threefold he appeals to the Father with the question whether "another way" is possible. Threefold silence was the answer. The "human clay" starts to speak through Jesus, excited by his relation with his disciples, and that is why "his Father left him". Not on the Cross, when Jesus cried: "My God, my God! Why have you forsaken my?" - this was started in the garden of Gethsemane and kept on up to the moment where "the curtain of the temple was torn". All that time, from the temptation up to crucifixion, Jesus kept on fighting with the "call of flesh", which tore him in pieces, at the same time seeking for the contact with his father. That is why the conversation with Pilates was so tragic, finely impregnated with temptation. That is why Pilates sends Jesus to Erodes, where Jesus was tempted afresh: he had to satisfy the curiosity of Erodes, more precisely, to have been pleased with the status of a miracle-worker, and he would be secured with the protection of the ruler13 .
   The "curtain" of a non-transparent fabric kept on remaining in the Temple14 , dividing the World of Human and the World of God. Jesus left this world failing to make it transparent. "The curtain turn" means the solution found. This is a narrow as an eye of a needle "fenestella" in the formal nature of the human, through whish the man of Ages of Pisces could connect with the God. And this "curtain torn"15 , this "breach" in the curtain of the Temple was Christ himself16 . And just the temporary rupture with Farther became the raising urge that made it possible. That is the result of going through the fourth temptation17 .

      NOTES:
       (1) "The Christ : revealed to the Humanity an example of all - completely manifested - possibilities, hidden within the human being up to that time" (А.А.B. "Reappearance of the Christ", 158). The Christ was ready to manifest the aspect of Will too, but at that moment it had been the aim and the object of the next solar cycle - the Age of Aquarius.
       (2) "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat" (Luke, 22:31). Some branches of Christianity interpret these words as so it was a matter of a sort of "sifting" through sieve. But each farmworker would say that one does not sow wheat sifting through sieve! Only those who never had dealt with wheat production could say that. Wheat is to be threshed and winnowed (under the wind or a stream of air). The term "saw" has the only one meaning related to wheat: to saw into the ground. Therefore, at that place Jesus reminded his parable of wheat sown, where it was a question of "time to sow" and "time to test roots".
       (3) "We suffer : from the ignorance of the past: it is an unprecedented fact that the ancient commentator carries more authority than a modern, more educated and clever man" (А.А.B. "Reappearance of the Christ", 24).

That statement of the Holy Apostle Paul is also related to his "ascent of a mountain" but had not at that time the level of "denial", special for the fourth initiation in the Age of the Pisces. Formally it was a matter of epileptic seizures, having impact Paul after one of his "drowning in water": ": Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea" (2 Cor 11:25). The esoteric meaning of this ailment is incompleteness of the act of "salvation from water", i.e. out from astral forces.

       (8) Here one can see the paradigm of identifying religions, occult schools and practices related to the Age of Aries, i.e., obsolete and not right both in Pisces and in Aquarius.
       (9) Spiritual contacts using technical antahkarana are episodically, like sparking in a loose connection of two conductors. That is why God, by Moses, is situated in clouds with thunder and lightening.
       (10) "See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ:" (Col. 2:8), as well as "If with Christ you died to the elemental spirits of the world... according to human precepts and teachings?" (Col. 2:20-22). "Elemental spirits of the world" are essence of idols, i.e. of images of formal nature.
       (11) Let me remind you that the right way, i.e. spiritual sense, is connected with increasingly full manifestation of life of God. Since matter is not yet ready to express divinity in all its greatness, it has to progress over the time. This process refers to evolution. As matter gets improved it reflects more and more high qualities of the divine. And vice versa: as matter progresses, God reveals himself in more and more explicit, or true, appearance. That why all that had been revealed earlier, was more distorted, more rush form of the manifestation of the divine. Is it right to "shadow" the Divine by rush (past) forms while the Divine is already present without such distortions? Such "shadowing" would be an opposition to the God's Will and would reflect the fact of "falling into matter".
       (12) There is some similarity between the Garden of Eden and the Garden of Gethsemane: temptation and following fall. Adam and Eve: fall on the earth and expiation (salvation) through children. Jesus and the humanity: fall on the earth and salvation through disciples that he considered as "his children". Furthermore, it should be borne in mind that "Earth symbolizes the sphere of experience" (А.А.Bailey, "Esoteric astrology", 126-127).
       (13) Traditionally all these ordeals are interpreted from perspective of corporal suffering. However for Jesus the repeated temptation was the more serious ordeal.
       (14) Temple of Got, that is the man himself having a "curtain" within him, separating the consciousness of man from the consciousness of God.
       (15) The "burning" of ether partition in the vertebral column of a disciple by ascending fire kundalini corresponds to the break of curtain". I.e. this variant of fire ascent, with burning of ether partition in the vertebral column, is a variant inherent to the Age of Pisces. In the Age of Aquarius this variant, with burning the ether bridge, is possible as well, but it is not the only possible way. The possibility exists to achieve ascent of fire kundalini without destroy the partition, through making it fully transparent.
       (16) "Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh... (Hebrews 10:19-20).
       (17) "Sophisticated man" is a man having experienced and rejected temptation. And Christ was "one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin". (Hebrews, 4: 15).
